Nepal started the match in impressive note and had good ball possession from the early minute; Sandip Rai gave a pass to Jagjeet Shrestha but latter failed to collect the ball in the 3rd minute. Both teams were busy in midfield battle up to 5th minute but it was Yemen who slowly started to keep ball possession with them and compelled Nepali side to play defensive football up to 11th minute. Sandip Rai did his best to clear out the ball from header in the 12th minute. Nepal earned a free kick in the 18th minute but Sandip Rai’s free kick did not find Anil Gurung’s header. Rai’s free kick in the 27th minute was also wasted by Anil Gurung. After leading a chart Yemen looked confident and they played attacking football they almost doubled their tally in the 62nd minute but Nepalese custodian Kiran Chemjong did his best to deny Kamil Tareq in one VS one situation. Yemen doubled their tally in the 66th minute through Mohamed Barwish who badly beat Nepalese skipper Sagar Thapa to shoot from the D Box to give no clue for Nepalese custodian Chemjong to make 2-0 up against Nepal. Head to Head
Asian Cup 2000, Qualifying tournament 10-2-2000 Nepal VS Yemen

In the previous meeting, Yemen beat Nepal by 3 goals and at that time Upendra Man Singh was the team captain and team goalkeeper. Singh is now a goalkeeping coach of National Football Team and can he take the revenge against Yemeni. The current FIFA ranking of Nepal is 160 and Yemen is in 185 ranks, though Yemen looks inferior on the basis of FIFA ranking, Nepal should not take them lightly. Nepal will test some fresh talented in this friendly match namely Karna Limbu, Bijaya Dhimal and Ashim Jung Karki. Meanwhile, Jumanu Rai and Anil Gurung will try their best to score goal in order to catch Hari Khadka and Nirajan Rayamajhi, both had scored 13 goals and are the leading goal scorer of Nepal.
