Local football club, Nawa Jana Jagriti Yuwa Club (NJJYC) beat an assembled team, Birgunj United Club (BUC) by 2-1 goals to lift the 5th Simara Gold Cup 2014. Pradeep Maharjan and Aba Cedric scored for local/ host team and Suman Lama scored for BUC. It was BUC who started the match in good note and their player Suman Lama got the ball from the flank but his shoot went inch wide in the 5th minute of the match. BUC played a good passing football and created some good move up to the 10th minute.
Nawa Jana Jagriti Yuwa Club’s first good attempt came in the 14th minute when their skipper Pradeep Maharjan gave a good long pass to Bijaya Gurung and his good header went inch wide in the 15th minute. Gurung’s brilliant free kick was beautifully saved by veteran BUC’s custodian Dilip Cheetry in the 18th minute. Local team played constant attack but BUC’s custodian Dilip Cheetry did some heroic save to deny Nirajan Khadka and Pradeep Maharjan in the 28th minute and 31st minute respectively. BUC also wasted a good chance to take a lead in the 32nd minute and 35th minute when Shekhar Limbu’s superb kick was easily saved by NJJYC’s custodian Bikesh Kuthu on both occasions. Bijaya Gurung of local team also wasted a chance to lead in the 44th minute his good header went inch above the bar. In the second half local team played more attacking game and they took a lead in the 55th minute when their skipper Pradeep Maharjan scored through a superb free kick to make 1-0 up against BUC. After taking a lead they played more aggressive game but goal scorer wasted a chance to double their tally in the 60th minute Maharjan’s well strike was beautifully saved by BUC’s custodian Dilip Cheetry. Bijaya Gurung wasted two chances for NJJYC in the 62nd minute and 65th minute. BUC tried to level the score from the 70th minute but Amar Dangol and Shekhar Limbu failed to utilize the chance in the 70th minute and 72nd minute respectively. Finally Birgunj United Club leveled the score in the 83rd minute when Suman Lama scored to stun local team’s custodian Bikesh Kuthu to make 1-1. The match went on extra time after both teams failed to score and in the first half of added extra time local team stared in good note and took a lead in the 93rd minute of the match when Aba Cedric scored to utilize Nirajan Khadka’s pass to make 2-1 up against BUC. After conceding the goal BUC looked confused and their pass was not accurate they did not show the signal to come back in the game. BUC did not play as good as they played against Nepal Police Club. In the 110th minute Birgunj United Club was down to the ten men as Sissoko was red carded. In the remaining time BUC failed to level the goal and Nawa Jana Jagriti Yuwa Club lift the title of Ruslan 5th Simara Gold Football tournament to receive Rs 4 Lakhs cash prize.
