National football team beat departmental team Nepal Army
Club by 2 goals in a friendly match at Nepal Army Headquarter Bhadrakali on
Friday. Jagjeet Shrestha and Jumanu Rai scored for Nepal National Football Team
in the 13th minute and 53rd minute respectively. National
team is preparing for a friendly match against Yemen and Philippines on March
25 and April respectively on Doha. Today’s match is a part of preparation match
and national team started the match in good note but Bhola Nath Silwal’s flick
was well cleared by Army men Yudddha in the very first minute of the match. Nepal
time and again tried their best to score but they failed to score in the 4th
minute, 8th minute and 10th minute of the match.
Nepal
took an early lead in the 13th minute when Nepali Leo, Jagjeet
Shrestha scored a beautiful goal to beat Army men’s custodian Bikash Malla to
make 1-0 up against Nepal Army Club. Army men’s custodian Bikash Malla played
football after a long time he was out of football due to leg injury and he did
a fantastic job in today’s match. Nepal Army Club was playing without their
star forward Bharat Khawas and their key player Raju tamang in today’s match as
both of them in national football team. In the 25th minute national
forward Santosh Sahukhala ran for the ball and he found the shoot from edge of
the box but custodian Bikash Malla denied his shoot beautifully. Custodian Malla
did some heroic save in the 29th minute, 35th minute and
40th minute of the match. In the second half national forward Jumanu
Rai doubled the tally for Nepali football team in the 53rd minute to
utilize Deepak Rai’s cross which made Nepal 2-0 up against Nepal Army Club. In the
remaining time Nepal failed to add more goals despite their hard effort. In the
second half Jumanu Rai, Karna Limbu, Biraj Maharjan, Raju Tamang and Sujal
Shrestha enter in field replacing Santosh Sahukhala, Anil Gurung, Bhola Nath
Silwal, Bijaya Lama and Jagjeet Shrestha respectively. Likewise, Bharat Khawas
and Sabindra Shrestha also replaced Sandip Rai and Rabin Shrestha in the 55th
minute of the match. Manang Marshaygdi Club’s custodian Bishal Shrestha also
played for national football team in the 58th minute when Shrestha
replaced first choice national keeper Kiran Kumar Limbu.
Though National football team beat Nepal Army Club by 2
goals they need to improve their performance for coming friendly matches
against Yemen and Philippines. Forwards have to be smart and energetic in international
friendly matches. Let’s hope that our national football team will play more
friendly matches with Nepali football club.
