In the opening match between Lalbandi Football Club (LFC) and Nawa Jana Jagriti Yuwa Club (NJJC) in the 5th Simara Gold Cup 2014 on Thursday at Simara Stadium, latter beat formal one by 2 goal. Bijaya Gurung scored twice for winning team in the 2nd minute and 87th minute to enter quarterfinal of the tournament. Nawa Jana Jagriti Club started the match in good note and they took an early lead in the 2nd minute when Bijaya Gurung’s shot from 22 yard distance kissed the net to make 1-0 up against Lalbandi FC. After an early goal NJJC looked confident and they played offensive games to add more goals but they failed to do so since their forwards Anil and Bantaba looked blunt to utilize the chances.
Pradeep Maharjan almost scored for NJJC but LFC’s custodian Alan Neupane did his best to deny Maharjan in the 13th minute of the match. NJJC forward Bantaba wasted a chance to double the tally in the 18th minute his left footed shot went inch wide. NJJC wasted a golden chance to double their lead in the 25th minute but their skippers Pradeep Maharjan kick the ball wide. Maharjan wasted so many chances in the first half along with Anil and Bantaba. Goal scorer Bijaya Gurung almost doubled his tally in the 42nd minute but his lovely powerful shot was brilliantly saved by LFC custodian Alan Neupane. NJJC played good football in the first half but they wasted dozen of goal scoring chance and LFC were busy to defend the ball. In the second half LFC tried to play offensive match and they did their best to level the goal but they failed to do so. LFC played attacking football and on the other hand NJJC played defensive game and they were busy to defend the ball in the second half but due to inexperience forwards line in LLC they did not utilize the chances. Naresh Pokhrel of LFC was on the flank and he gave a superb pass to Sajan Pradhan but Pradhan failed to give the ball to the post in the 73rd minute. Sajan Pradhan missed so many chances in this match, LFC played hard to level the score and their midfielders gave enough pass to the forwards but their forwards looked blunt to utilize the chances. On the other hand NJJC players looked dull except goal scorer Bijaya Gurung and skipper Pradeep Maharjan. Gurung and Maharjan played a good football to keep pressure to LFC. In the 87th minute Ram Thapa Magar gave a superb pass to Bijaya Gurung and Gurung did his best to shot the ball to double the tally to make 2-0 up against LFC. In today’s match Pradeep Maharjan and Bijaya Gurung utilized their experience to win this match against inexperience side Lalbandi Football Club. Both teams failed to utilize the chances and match ended in favor of NJJC with 2 goals. With this easy win Nawa Jana Jagriti Yuwa Club enter to the quarterfinal of the 5th Simara Gold Cup 2014.
