2014-03-13
Manang Marshyagdi Club (MMC) beat departmental team Nepal Police Club (NPC) by 5 goals to enter the final of 12th Aaha Rara Gold Cup 2014 on Thursday. Hat-trick from Sujal Shrestha and a piece of goal from Anil Gurung   and Yona Elias helped MMC to win an easy match against NPC. It was NPC who started the match in good note but Bhola Nath Silwal did not utilize a corner kick in the 3rd minute. Cops player Dipen Shrestha gave a superb pass to Bharat Shah in the 6th minute but latter failed to hold the ball properly. Ganesh Khadka looked ambitious and his ambitious shot was well blocked by MMC defender Saheed in the 7th minute.

Despite playing a match in good note cops conceded an early goal in the 10th minute when Sujal Shrestha scored a superb goal to utilize Anil Gurung’s free kick. MMC received a spot kick in the 17th minute as Suman Subedi handled the ball with his hand and Sujal Shrestha converted the spot kick to double their tally. After scoring two goals, MMC looked confident and they almost scored the third goal in the 18th minute but cops custodian did his best to deny Deepak Rai’s shot. Bhola Nath Silwal almost cut the deficit for cops in the 22nd minute but his attempt went little wide from the pole. MMC player Deepak Rai gave a pass to Yona Elias and latter’s left footed shot went wide from the target in the 24th minute. NPC wasted a golden chance to cut the deficit in the 35th minute when Bharat Shah failed to strike on target to punish MMC custodian Bishal Shrestha for his blunder. Anil Gurung scored the third goal for MMC to utilize Sujal Shrestha’s pass in the 37th minute and Yona Elias scored the fourth goal for MMC to make 4-0 up against departmental team NPC in the 41st minute. In the second half cops tried their best to play attacking football but they missed their star forward Jumanu Rai in today’s match. Bharat Shah almost scored for NPC but custodian Bishal Shrestha was smart enough to deny Shah in the 58th minute. Cops custodian Ritesh Thapa came forward to deny Anil Gurung in the 65th minute before being smart to deny Deepak Rai’s shot a minute later. Custodian Thapa made another brilliant saved to deny Sulav Maskey and Deepak Rai in the 69th minute and 70th minute respectively. Sujal Shrestha scored a hat-trick against cops in the 75th minute and he scored the fifth goal for MMC to utilize Nirajan Malla’s pass. After conceding the fifth goal cops looked dull and MMC looked recharged to add more goals but it was custodian Ritesh Thapa who did his best to deny Saheed Aziz, Deepak Rai and Nirajan Malla in the 78th minute, 81st minute and 90th minute respectively. With this easy win MMC will play final with Sahara Football Club on Saturday for the title. Sujal Shrestha declared the man of the match of this game. NPC did not play with their potential and they needs to reinforcement of their team with new talented players.

  1. It was the time when MMC and NPC were best club and during that time their one vs one match was like Elclassico and NPC won maximum matches and Hari Khadka was hero for most matches
