Manang Marshaygdi Club enter in to semi-finals

League champions Manang Marshaygdi Club (MMC) beat CMG Sankata Club by 2 goals to enter semi-finals of 12th Aaha Rara Gold Cup 2014. Anil Gurung and Sujal Shrestha scored a piece   of goal for MMC in the 9th minute and 52nd minute respectively.

It was MMC who started the match in good note and loan player from Three Star Club, Biraj Maharjan tried his luck from 25 yard distance but Sankata Club custodian Pierre saved him in the 2nd minute. Sujal Shrestha’s free kick in the 6th minute was well headed by Yona Elias but his header went inch wide. The first good attempt from Sankata came in the 7th minute but Rajeev Gurung’s free kick went wide. MMC took an early lead in the 9th minute when Anil Gurung utilized a cross off Sujal Shrestha to stun custodian Pierre to make 1-0 up. Santosh Sahukhala from Sankata Club came closer to level the score in the 14th minute but his free kick was superbly cleared out from the box. Yona Elias was smart to give one touch pass to Deepak Rai but he failed to direct the ball into the post in the 20th minute. Santosh Sahukhala again failed to utilize superb free kick in the 25th minute his free kick was again cleared out by MMC defender. Sankata wasted another chance to level the score in the 27th minute Kalu Thapa’s free kick was again cleared out from the box. Sankata’s custodian Pierre was smart enough to deny Sujal Shrestha’s brilliant free kick in the 40th minute. MMC’s player Shiva Shrestha scored in the 45+1 minute to utilize Biraj Maharjan’s free kick but referee ruled out the goal which squandered MMC’s chance to double their lead. Sujal Shrestha doubled MMC’s lead in the 52nd minute to utilize Deepak Rai’s pass. Santosh Sahukhala’s free kick in the 60th minute went inch wide. Nishan Limbu tried his luck to cut the deficit but MMC’s custodian Bishal Shrestha came forward to save the ball in the 62nd minute. MMC almost triple their lead in the 63rd minute but Saheed Aziz header was smartly cleared out by Sankata’s defender Bikram Lama. In the 64th minute Saheed Aziz was smart to block Suman Lama’s powerful kick. Anil Gurung wasted a golden chance to double his tally but he failed to score in one vs one with custodian Pierre in the 65th minute. Nirajan Khadka gave a superb pass to Anil Gurung and latter tried tricky shot but went little wide from the pole in the 68th minute. Bishal Rai of MMC came closer to extend their tally but failed to beat custodian Pierre in the 72nd minute. Ibrahim’s powerful shot was punched by MMC custodian Bishal Shrestha in the 76th minute. Sankata almost cut the deficit in the 81st minute but Biraj Maharjan denied Suman Lama’s strike. Nirajan Malla’s powerful shot was well saved by Sankata custodian Pierre in the 90+3 minute. With this win MMC enter in to semi-final to play with Nepal Police Club.
