Saraswoti Youth Club enters quarterfinal

In the third match played today between 1st RGR Brunei Football Team ( RGR) and Saraswoti Youth Club (SYC) at Pokhara, latter beat formal by 2-5 goals in the very competitive match. The match was delayed by 15 minute due to technical problem.

It was RGR who started the match in good note and they had taken an early lead in the 6th minute through Basanata Gurung who utilized a free kick taken by Karan Gurung. RGR doubled their lead in the 10th minute through Santosh Shrestha with his powerful volley to make 2-0 up. SYC hired three players from Three Star Club and Jagjeet Shrestha tried his luck from outside the box but his shot went out of target in the 15th minute. Sabindra Shrestha tried his luck from the flank but his shot went inch above the bar in the 21st minute. SYC cut the deficit in the 22nd minute when Geofrey Bonny scored a superb goal to make 2-1 before Pius Henry leveled the score for SYC in the 26th minute. SYC took a lead in the 28th minute when Henry again scored to punish the defense line of RGR to make 2-3. SYC almost extended their tally in the 35th minute but Jagjeet Shrestha failed to direct the ball. In the second half Saraswoti Club started the match in good note and they dominated RGR from the beginning and in the 55th minute SYC extended their tally through Dipesh Shrestha to utilize a cross off Jagjeet Shrestha to make 2-4 up. Aakash Gurung almost cut the deficit for RGR in the 60th minute but SYC custodian Ashok Baral was smart enough to save the shot. Jagjeet Shrestha of SYC got rebounded ball drops in front of Bijaya Gurung but he did not direct the ball into the post in the 74th minute. Santosh Shrestha of RGR played superb football and he came closer to the goal but his shot went little wide from the target in the 75th minute. Basanta Gurung tried his luck from edge of the box but SYC custodian was smart enough to deny Gurung in the 76th minute. In the last 10 minute RGR tried to play aggressive football but their inexperience player failed to break the deadlock of Saraswoti Youth Club. Saraswoti Youth Club scored the fifth goal in the 85th minute through Tanku Lama to make 2-5 Lama scored an outstanding goal to utilize the good cross from Bijaya Gurung. The match ended in favor of Goddess and they enter quarterfinal of the Aaha Rara Gold Cup. Though 1st RGR Brunei Football Team started the match in good note and they scored 2 early goals they did not maintain the score due to their inexperience players in the squad. This is the first participation of RGR in this tournament. Meanwhile Saraswoti Youth Club showed the comeback sprit to beat RGR and they have loaned three players from Three Star Club namely Jagjeet Shrestha, Bijaya Gurung and Sabindra Shrestha in the field.
