Manang Marshyagdi Club beat Nepal Army Club

Sujal Shrestha converted a second half spot kick as League champions Manang Marshyagdi Club (MMC) defeated departmental team Nepal Army Club (NAC) 1-0 to enter semifinals of the 16th Budha Subba Gold Cup 2014 at Dharan played on Monday.Both sides wasted numerous chances during the first half, with Deepak Rai missing the best opening in the 2nd minute as be blasted over from point- blank range. MMC started the match in good note and Deepak Rai again wasted a chance to take a lead his left footed shot from the edge of the box went inch wide from the pole in the 5th minute. Rupesh KC released a quick pass to Anil Gurung but NAC defender Jitendra Karki reacted quickly to clear the ball out from the box in the 13th minute of the match. Bishal Rai of MMC released a through pass to Yona Elias, latter looked slow, NAC custodian Bikash Malla came forward to save the ball in the 16th minute.

Nepal Police Club beat Dharan Football Academy

Bharat Shah a late goal as departmental team Nepal Police Club (NPC) defeated local team Dharan Football Academy (DFA) 1-0 to enter quarterfinal on 16th Budha Subba Gold Cup 2014 on Sunday at Dharan Stadium. Cops wasted numerous chances during the match, with Jumanu Rai, Dipen Shrestha and Ganesh Khadka missing the best opening during whole match. Departmental team started the match in impressive note and Ganesh Khadka and Jumanu Rai made good combination but Rai’s nice flick went inch above the bar in the 4th minute. Bhola Nath Silwa’s beautiful free kick in the 8th minute was magnificently saved by DFA’s custodian Afjit.

African United Club beat Machhindra FC to enter Semi final

African United Club (AUC) beat Machhindra Football Club (MFC) by 2-1 goals in the extra time to enter semifinals in Red Bull 16th Budha Subba Gold Cup football tournament 2014 on Saturday. Alvia Appiah and Ibrahim scored for winning team in the 39th minute and 113th minute respectively and Bishal Rai cut the deficit for Machhindra FC in the 90+1 minute.

Dharan FC beat Kanchanjunga FC in Budha Subba Gold Cup

Host Dharan Football Club (DFC) labored hard to beat Kanchanjunga Football Club (KFC) by 2 goals in the opening match of the Budha Subba Gold Cup 2014 played on Friday at Dharan. DFC started the match brightly with Ashim Jung Karki and Sandip Rai came close inside the first 10th minute of the match. DFC is an assembled team from A Division Club and had five national team players. Nirajan Khadka of DFC gave a good pass to Manish Ghale but latter’s kick went little above the bar in the 6th minute.

Pradip Humagain to coach Nepal Army Club

Experience formal Nepali National Team coach and Nepal Police Club coach, Yogamber Suwal has decided to leave Nepal Army Club on moral grounds. He decided to leave departmental team after, Nepal Army Club failed to cross first round of 12th Aaha Rara Gold Cup 2014. Army men also failed to reach super six in Red Bull A Division League 2070 BS. It feels like I am unlucky with the Army club, said Suwal, whose success rate with another departmental team, Nepal Police Club was superb.

Yemen beat Nepal in friendly match

Nepali national team was beaten by Yemen national team by 2 goals in a friendly match played on Tuesday at Doha. Kamil Tareq and Mohamaed Barwish scored a piece of goal for Yemen in the 58th minute and 66th minute respectively. Nepal started the match in impressive note and had good ball possession from the early minute; Sandip Rai gave a pass to Jagjeet Shrestha but latter failed to collect the ball in the 3rd minute. Both teams were busy in midfield battle up to 5th minute but it was Yemen who slowly started to keep ball possession with them and compelled Nepali side to play defensive football up to 11th minute. Sandip Rai did his best to clear out the ball from header in the 12th minute. Nepal earned a free kick in the 18th minute but Sandip Rai’s free kick did not find Anil Gurung’s header. Rai’s free kick in the 27th minute was also wasted by Anil Gurung. We saw a good one touch pass in the 29th minute when Santosh Sahukhala gave a pass to Bhola Nath Silwal, Silwal to Anil Gurung and Gurung to Bikram Lama but latter’s attempt went wide. Bhola Silwal gave a superb pass to Anil Gurung and Gurung’s ambitious shot from outside the box deflected off defender to the hands of Yemen’s custodian in the 34th minute. Jagjeet Shrestha failed to collect the free kick taken by Sandip Rai in the 37th minute. Yemen’s first good attempt came in the 41st minute but Nepali goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong did his best to deny Yemen player.

Nepal U-14 Girls won AFC Championship

Nepal National U -14 girls’ team has won AFC U-14 Regional Championship (Central & South Asia) will all five victories. Junior girls defeated Tajikistan 2-0 in their last match to collect 15 points from five matches. Nepali team is a only team in the championship that does not concede a goal. Alisha Jimba scored twice in the 21st minute and 23rd minute to seal the match for Nepal. In the first match, Nepal had defeated Bhutan U-14 Girls team by 9 goals, Sri Lanka with a single goal, India with 4 goals and Iran with 4 goals in the second, third and fourth matches respectively. The full time for all matches in the championship is 70 minutes two half of 35 minute each. The tournament was played in league format and there are six countries participated in the championship namely, Nepal, India, Tajikistan, Bhutan, Iran and host country Sri Lanka. India was the defending champions of the tournament. With this victory, Nepal has created history. After this victory, All Nepal Football Women’s Association President, Kalpana Priya Shrestha also congratulates Nepal National U-14 Girls team.

Final squad announced for friendly match against Yemen and Philippines

Nepal National Football Team final squad has been announced for friendly match against Yemen on Sunday. Total twenty footballers are selected for the clash among them, three Goalkeepers, six defenders, five midfielders and six forwards are selected. Sujal Shrestha is back again in squad after two years gap, Deepak Rai, Karna Limbu and Ashim Jung Karki are selected for the first time. Shiva Shrestha of Manang Marshyagdi Club and Prakash Budathoki of Three Star Club are axed from the squad. Similarly, Bharat Khawas of Nepal Army Club, Biraj Maharjan of Three Star Club and young star Bimal Gharti Magar will miss the friendly match as Khawas and Maharjan could not travel to Doha due to their VISA problem, meanwhile Gharti Magar is appearing in SLC exam.

Nawa Jana Jagriti Yuwa Club lift Ruslan 5th Simara Gold Cup

Local football club, Nawa Jana Jagriti Yuwa Club (NJJYC) beat an assembled team, Birgunj United Club (BUC) by 2-1 goals to lift the 5th Simara Gold Cup 2014. Pradeep Maharjan and Aba Cedric scored for local/ host team and Suman Lama scored for BUC. It was BUC who started the match in good note and their player Suman Lama got the ball from the flank but his shoot went inch wide in the 5th minute of the match. BUC played a good passing football and created some good move up to the 10th minute.

National Football Team beat Nepal Army Club

National football team beat departmental team Nepal Army Club by 2 goals in a friendly match at Nepal Army Headquarter Bhadrakali on Friday. Jagjeet Shrestha and Jumanu Rai scored for Nepal National Football Team in the 13th minute and 53rd minute respectively. National team is preparing for a friendly match against Yemen and Philippines on March 25 and April respectively on Doha. Today’s match is a part of preparation match and national team started the match in good note but Bhola Nath Silwal’s flick was well cleared by Army men Yudddha in the very first minute of the match. Nepal time and again tried their best to score but they failed to score in the 4th minute, 8th minute and 10th minute of the match.

Nepal Police Club beaten by Birgunj United Club to enter final

An assembled team Birgunj United Club (BUC) beat departmental team Nepal Police Club (NPC) by 3 goals to enter final of the 5th Simara Gold Cup 2014 on Thursday at Simara Stadium. Ibrahim Olaide score brace and Shekhar Limbu added a goal for winning team. BUC started the match in good note and they took an early lead in the 2nd minute through Ibrahim Olaide to punish cops custodian Bishal Shrestha to make 1-0 up against NPC.
After conceding a shocking goal NPC tried to level the score but Bharat Shah’s right flank failed to level the score in the 10th minute of the match. BUC were busy in midfield battle after taking an early goal meanwhile cops tried to collect the ball but failed to do so. Birgunj United Club doubled their tally in the 21st minute when Shekhar Limbu punished NPC’s custodian Bishal Shrestha to make 2-0 up against NPC. Ibrahim scored the third goal for his club in the 24th minute to make 3-0 up against NPC. Cops looked frustrated after conceding three silly goals due to the blunder of their custodian Bishal Shrestha. NPC almost cut the deficit in the 36th minute but Yogesh Shrestha’s brilliant shot was hardly saved by BUC’s custodian Dilip Chettry. Cops forward Bharat Shah who scored twice in previous match against league champions Manang Marshyagdi Club (MMC) failed to strike on target in today’s match. Shah failed to beat BUC’s custodian Dilip Chettry in the 39th minute his shot was easily saved by custodian Chettry. Ganesh Khadka also missed a chance to cut the deficit in the 41st minute of the match his shot went inch above the wall. In the second half of the match cops tried to play some attacking football but they failed to utilize the chances they got. Cops player Bharat Shah, Dipen Shrestha, Ganesh Khadka and Yogesh Shrestha failed to strike for NPC. BUC’s custodian Dilip Chettry did some brilliant save to deny Bharat Shah in the 54th minute, 65th minute and 78th minute. Similarly, custodian Chettry was smart enough to deny Dipen Shrestha in the 59th minute and 62nd minute, likewise Ganesh Khadka and Yogesh Shrestha also failed to beat custodian Chettry in the 63rd minute and 80th minute respectively. Though NPC tried to cut the deficit in the second half they failed to utilize the chance. Cops players looked frustrated after they squandered the chances they got in the early minute of the second half of the match. In the final minute cops did not show the symptoms to come back in the match they mentally accepted the result. Though NPC came from behind to beat MMC in the previous match they failed to do so in today’s match. NPC were unlucky to concede an early goal in today’s match. Birgunj United Club created only 3 chances and succeeds to score all of them. Ibrahim was adjusted the man of the match in today’s match. BUC will take local team Nawa Jana Jagriti Yuwa Club on Saturday.

Raju Kaji Shakya

Raju Kaji Shakya, formal Nepali Football Captain was born in July 1960, in Dharan, Nepal. He started playing Professional football from 1975. He played from Nepali National team from 1981 to 1997. He was captain of Nepali National Football Team from 1991-1997. He also has played professional football in Bangladesh league too. Raju Shakya is one of the few lucky players who saw three generations of Nepali Footballers. In the first generation he was a magnificent young talent, captain of the second generation and now a successful coach in the third generation.  He was the junior most member among the 18 players in Nepal’s first every international football participation in the Asian Games in Delhi. Raju Shakya is the most capped Nepali player with 68 international matches. He holds the record for leading the team for the most number of times. Under his captaincy Nepal won Gold Medal in Football’s in the Sixth South Asian Games. The first SAFF Championship held in Nepal was last international match for him. He started his coaching career from 1999 and he is actively coaching Nepali A Division Football Club and U-19 Football Team of Nepal. Shakya visited more than 30 countries.

In the opening match between Lalbandi Football Club (LFC) and Nawa Jana Jagriti Yuwa Club (NJJC) in the 5th Simara Gold Cup 2014 on Thursday at Simara Stadium, latter beat formal one by 2 goal. Bijaya Gurung scored twice for winning team in the 2nd minute and 87th minute to enter quarterfinal of the tournament. Nawa Jana Jagriti Club started the match in good note and they took an early lead in the 2nd minute when Bijaya Gurung’s shot from 22 yard distance kissed the net to make 1-0 up against Lalbandi FC. After an early goal NJJC looked confident and they played offensive games to add more goals but they failed to do so since their forwards Anil and Bantaba looked blunt to utilize the chances.

Raju Kaji Shakya appointed as head coach

All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has confirmed that formal Nepal Assistant and CMG Sankata Club Coach, Raju Kaji Shakya will lead the national football team with a capacity of head coach to Doha for Yemen and Philippines friendly matches.

Manang Marshyagdi Club (MMC) beat departmental team Nepal Police Club (NPC) by 5 goals to enter the final of 12th Aaha Rara Gold Cup 2014 on Thursday. Hat-trick from Sujal Shrestha and a piece of goal from Anil Gurung   and Yona Elias helped MMC to win an easy match against NPC. It was NPC who started the match in good note but Bhola Nath Silwal did not utilize a corner kick in the 3rd minute. Cops player Dipen Shrestha gave a superb pass to Bharat Shah in the 6th minute but latter failed to hold the ball properly. Ganesh Khadka looked ambitious and his ambitious shot was well blocked by MMC defender Saheed in the 7th minute.

SFC created several chances and Peter Segun was smart enough to beat two APF defenders but his shot went inch above the post in the 8th minute.

In the competitive match it was Sankata Club who started the match in good note and Martins came closer to the goal but his shot went little wide from second bar in the 1st minute. The first good attempt from Jawalakehl Club came in the 5th minute but Pradeep Maharjan failed to utilize the chance. Bijaya Dhimal’s cross was well headed by Komal Khawas in the 10th minute but his attempt went little above the bar. Sankata Club played a fantastic football and Bikram Lama scored through header utilizing a cross off Bijay Dhimal to beat JYC custodian Birendra Bahadur Chand to make 1-0 up. After conceding the silly goal Jawalakhel Club tried to play some attacking football and their skipper Pradeep Maharjan tried his long ranger shot but Sankata’s custodian Pierre easily saved his shot in the 25th minute.

Teams ended the regular match in 1-1 draw, it was Nepal U-16 who took an early lead in the 15th minute of the match through Anjan Bista but Ranjan Bista leveled the score in the 35th minute for APF.

Red Bull A Division League 2070 BS summary

Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC) clinched seventh league title of Red Bull A Division League on Saturday after 8 years. MMC ended the league with a losing note but they were already secured the first spot with on match in hand. The winner MMC received Rs 75 Lakhs and also get chance to represent Nepal in AFC President’s Cup qualifiers. Meanwhile the surprise packages of A Division, Machhindra Football Club (MFC) secured the second spot and received Rs 45 Lakhs.
