Machhindra FC enter in to semi-final

Giant killers of A Division League 2070 BS, Machhindra Football Club (MFC) came from behind to beat Saraswoti Youth Club (SYC) by 3-1 goals to enter semi-finals of 12th Aaha Rara Gold Cup 2014 on Monday at Pokhara. Saraswoti Youth Club took a lead in the 245th minute through Jagjeet Shrestha by his superb free kick, however Bishal Rai, Zaza and Dilan Loktan scored for Machhindra Football Club in 33rd minute, 61st minute and 73rd minute respectively.

It was SYC who started the match in good note and Nico looked ambitious and his ambitious long ranger shot went wide from the pole in the 2nd minute. Pius Henry’s powerful strike was beautifully punched by MFC custodian Dinesh Thapa in the 4th minute. Henry was again on target but MFC defender Amar Subbha nicely blocked him in the 7th minute. The first good attempt of MFC came in the 14th minute but SYC custodian Ashok Baral was smart to deny Rajin Dhimal. SYC got the golden chance in the 24th minute when Rajin Dhimal fouled on Bijay Gurung and Jagjeet Shrestha was smart to score through a superb free kick to make 1-0 up. SYC looked recharged after this goal and goal scorer was again on target but MFC defenders denied him in that occasion in the 30th minute. MFC leveled the score in the 33rd minute when Bishal Rai punished SYC custodian Ashok Baral for his poor goalkeeping to make 1-1. SYC almost doubled their lead in the 38th minute but Jeoly’s long ranger shot was hardly saved by custodian Dinesh Thapa. In the second half MFC looked aggressive and they almost took a lead in the 48th minute but SYC custodian Ashok Baral was smart to deny Bishal Rai. Jagjeet Shrestha was about to score in the 57th minute but Dipesh Shrestha was smart enough to handle the ball inside the box. MFC took a lead in the 61st minute when their African recruit Zaza scored a wonderful goal to make 1-2. SYC player Pius gave a lovely pass to Bijay Gurung and his left footed shot was well saved by custodian DInesh Thapa in the 63rd minute. SYC custodian Ashok Baral did his best to deny Sushil KC’s powerful shot in the 68th minute. Jagjeet Shrestha was unlucky to level the score in the 69th minute when his tricky cross was misjudged by MFC custodian Dinesh Thapa but Shrestha’s strike went inch above the wall. MFC extended their lead in the 73rd minute when Bishal Rai’s free kick was well headed by Dilen Loktam to make 1-3. SYC tried their best to cut the deficit in the 82nd minute but Jagjeet Shrestha failed to beat defender Hem Gurung. MFC squandered the good chance in the 84th minute Bishal Rai looked selfish and he did not give pass to unmark Ajay Bk and Rai’s shot went inch above the post. In the remaining time SYC failed to crack down the defender of MFC and match ended in favor of MFC and they will play semi-final of the tournament.
