Three Star beat Manang Marshyangdi Club

Defending champions Three Star Club (TSC) beat league champions Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC) by 2-1 goals in the very competitive match played on Saturday at Dasarath Stadium. Santosh Shahukhala scored the both goals for winning team through spot kick in the 10th minute and 43rd minute of the match and Anil Gurung was the goal scorer for MMC in the 32nd minute.

MMC was unlucky today as their two goals were ruled out offside by the referee. It was MMC to start the match in good note, Deepak Rai gave pass to Yona Elias but Elias’s shot was easily saved by TSC custodian Kiran Chemjong in the 3rd minute. Yona Elias scored for MMC in the 6th minute but MMC was bad luck as his goal was ruled out by the referee. TSC earned Penalty in the 10th minute and their captain Santosh Shahukhala converted an easy spot kick to make 1-0 up. After conceding penalty goal, MMC looked aggressive and Anil Gurung gave ball to Yona Elias and his shot was rebounded and Bishal Rai’s powerful kick went wide in the 17th minute. MMC custodian Bishal Shrestha easily denied Jagjeet Shrestha’s cross in the 27th minute.  In the 32nd minute Anil Gurung leveled the score for MMC through super strike from outside the box to make 1-1. After leveling the score MMC played more aggressively and their players Yona Elias, Anil Gurung, Sulav Maskey and Deepak Rai attacked one after another but they all failed to beat national custodian Kiran Chemjong in the first half of the match. Three Star Club were lucky to get second penalty kick in the match in the 42nd minute and Santosh Shahukhala again scored for TSC to make 2-1 up. MMC almost leveled the score in the 45+2 minute but Deepak Rai’s free kick from 30 yard distance was well saved by custodian Kiran Chemjong. In the second half MMC played aggressive game to level the score and almost scored in the 51st minute but Bishal Rai failed to beat custodian Kiran Chemjong. In the 54th minute Jagjeet Shrestha gave a superb pass to Santosh Shahukhala but Shahukhala’s kick was well saved by MMC custodian Bishal Shrestha. In the 56th minute Deepak Rai took a corner kick and his corner kick was hardly saved by TSC custodian Kiran Chemjong. In the 63rd minute Nirajan Malla scored for MMC but they were unlucky again as Malla’s goal was ruled out by referee. In the 67th minute TSC custodian hardly saved Bikram Limbu’s tight angle shot. National and MMC captain Sagar Thapa tried his luck through free kick in the 74th minute but his free kick was nicely punched by national and TSC custodian Kiran Chemjong. Custodian Chemjong was again smart enough to deny Nirajan Malla in the 82nd minute. In the remaining time both teams failed to score and match ended in favor of Three Star Club. With this win TSC secured third spot with 32 points and they received Rs 25 Lakhs cash prize, meanwhile league champions MMC is the league winner with 35 points and they receive Rs 75 Lakhs cash prize.
