Nawa Jana Jagriti Yuwa Club beat Machhindra FC to enter final

Local football club Nawa Jana Jagriti Yuwa Club (NJYC) came from behind to beat league runner up Machhindra Football (MFC) Club by 2-1 goals to enter the final for the first time in 5th Simara Gold Cup 2014 on Wednesday at Simara Stadium. MFC took a lead in the 28th minute through their African recruit Nico, meanwhile Smart leveled the score in the 49th minute before Bijaya Gurung scored winning goal in the 58th minute of the match.

MFC started the match in positive note but Bishal Rai missed the good chance to take in the 2nd minute. Local team who are playing the tournament with Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) and Three Star Club (TSC) players also missed a good header in the 5th minute. Deepak Rai did his best to cut through defense line but his shot was brilliantly saved by NJYC’s custodian Bikesh Kuthu in the 12th minute. Custodian Kuthu again did his best to deny Ajay BK’s shot in the 14th minute. MFC played aggressive game and they continued it and took a lead in the 28th minute through Nico to make 1-0 up against NJYC. After taking a lead MFC looked confident and they kept the ball possession and almost doubled the lead in the 32nd minute but Bishal Rai’s brilliant shot was well denied by custodian Bikesh Kuthu. NJYC almost leveled the score in the 37th minute but Bijaya Gurung’s brilliant shot was hardly saved by MFC’s custodian Dinesh Thapa. Custodian Thapa did his best to deny Noor Raj Kafle in the 41st minute. In the second half local team NJYC looked recharge and they played attacking football to level the score and they did it in the 49th minute of the match when an American player Smart scored to utilize a good pass from Bijaya Gurung to make 1-1. After equalizing the score they looked confident and they dominated MFC up to 55th minute of the match but some heroic saved from custodian Dinesh Thapa deny their scoring chances. MFC tried to play attacking football but Bishal Rai, Zaza and Nico failed to break the deadlock of NJYC. In the 58th minute Bijaya Gurung scored for local team to make NJYC 2-1 up against MFC. After scoring the goal local team played defensive football and MFC on the other hand tried to play aggressive football to level the score. MFC did their best to level the score but they really missed forward Karna Limbu. Bishal Rai, Sushil KC, Zaza and Nicko tried their best to level the score but they failed to do so. Bishal Rai’s superb strike from outside the box was hardly saved by NJYC’s custodian Bikesh Kuthu in the 65th minute. Sushil KC also failed to beat custodian Kuthu in the 69th minute KC powerful shot was brilliantly denied by Kuthu. Zaza’s one vs one shot was well saved by custodian Bikesh Kuthu in the 78th minute of the match. In the remaining time MFC failed to break the deadlock and match ended in favor of local team by 2-1 to enter first ever final of the tournament.
