Raju Kaji Shakya appointed as head coach

All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has confirmed that formal Nepal Assistant and CMG Sankata Club Coach, Raju Kaji Shakya will lead the national football team with a capacity of head coach to Doha for Yemen and Philippines friendly matches.
National football team is playing with Yemen on March 25 in Doha and will again play against Philippines on April 11. ANFA had approached with Machhindra Football Club Swedish Coach Johan Kalin for the post of Assistant Coach but Kalin did not accept the proposal. Shakya has been appointed the head coach of national football team on temporary basis. ANFA has already asked Nepal National team players to join the camp by Monday in Kathmandu. Football team will have just a couple of days for training before going to Doha. Similarly, experience Nepali goalkeeper Upendra Man Singh is also appointed a goalkeeping coach for the tour. ANFA selected following footballers for the friendly matches on the basis of performance and experiences.

Meanwhile, leading goal scorer Jumanu Rai, Bharat Khawas, Bimal Gharti Magar and Biraj Maharjan will miss the friendly matches. Rai, Khawas and Maharjan will miss the trip due to the passport problem while young forward Gharti Magar is attending his SLC

These friendly matches will help Nepal to increase FIFA ranking and all the pressures are with the newly appointed Nepali coach Raju. According to new FIFA ranking, Nepal moved up to the 9th place to rank 160th place. Afghanistan is the king of the South Asia lying at 127th place followed by India, Maldives, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Srilanka and Bhutan with 152nd position, 157th position, 158th position, 162th position, 173rd position and 207th position respectively.
