Nepal Police Club enter in to semi- finals

Departmental team Nepal Police Club (NPC) made it to the semi- finals of the 12th Aaha Rara Gold Cup 2014 after an easy 2-0 win over Dharan Football Club (DFC) on Sunday at Pokhara. Forward Bharat Shah netted his first in fine fashion in the 8th minute before he doubled his tally in the 15th minute.

NPC started the match in good note and Ajit Bhandari’s cross was easily saved by DFC custodian Kiran Chemjong in the 3rd minute. Ganesh Khadka got a good pass from Bharat Shah in the 6th minute but DFC custodian Chemjong was smart enough to deny him. Cops took an early lead in the 8th minute when Bharat Shah utilized a cross off Bhola Nath Silwal to make 1-0 up. Cops created another good chance through corner kick and Ganesh Khadka’as corner was well cleared by Rabi Thapa from inner D- Box in the 12th minute. Bharat Shah of NPC doubled his tally in the 15th minute to make 2-0 up; custodian Kiran Chemjong did nothing to Shah’s kick in that occasion. The first good attempt of DFC came in the 20th minute but Prakash Budathoki failed to direct the ball to the post from 20 yard distance. NPC forward Bharat Shah was fouled by DFC defender Smart in the 22nd minute but they failed to utilize free kick from 20 yard distance. Nirajan Khadka’s free kick from 30 yard distance went little above the bar in the 33rd minute. DFC was awarded a free kick in the 37th minute and Rabi Thapa’s free kick was cleared out by NPC defender Nir Kumar Rai. DFC tried to show tiki – taka style of Barcelona and Spain in the 41st minute when Prakash Budathoki’s gave one touch pass to Ibrahim and latter one’s powerful right footed shot went inch above the bar. Prakash Budathoki’s beautiful free kick was well saved by NPC custodian Ritesh Thapa in the 44th minute. In the second half cops was awarded a free kick and Ganesh Khadka’s free kick was well headed out from the box by Subham in the 52nd minute. In the beginning time of second half DFC did not look charge to come back in the match on the other hand cops looked recharged and they played attacking and organized football in today‘s match. DFC custodian Kiran Chemjong nicely denied Bhola Nath Silwal’s shot in the 56th minute. Custodian Chemjong looked smart to deny Bharat Shah in the 58th minute and cops wasted a sure goal scoring chance. In the 60th minute Nirajan Khadka was able to give good cross for Anil Gurung but cops custodian Ritesh Thapa easily saved the ball. Nirajan Khadka tried his luck again in the 64th minute but his free kick was well saved by cop’s custodian Ritesh Thapa. In the 67th minute Ibrahim tried his luck from the 25 yard distance but went inch above the bar. NPC almost triple their lead in the 88th minute but Bikram Dhimal’s powerful strike was hardly saved by custodian Kiran Chemjong. In the remaining time both teams failed to utilize the chances and match ended in favor of NPC and with this win they enter in to the semi final of Aaha Rara Gold Cup.
