Three Star won, RCT continue to battle for relegation

Defending champions Three Star Club (TSC) struggled to a narrow 1-0 win over Saraswoti Youth Club (SYC) to close in on leaders in the Martyrs Memorial Red Bull A Division League here at the Dashrath Stadium on 2014-01-17.
In the first match, a lonely goal from Santosh Sahukhala in the 42nd minute helped defending champions to earn valuable 3 points. TSC played an attacking football from the beginning and Jagjeet Shrestha’s corner kick was wide in the 3rd minute of the match. Three Star previously played 2-2 against Himalayan Sherpa and had 2 loss from Jawalakhel Club and Sankata Club by 2-0 and 1-0 respectively. Santosh Sahukhala’s perfect head was well saved by SYC goalie Ashok Baral in the 13th minute of the match, Sahukhala’s powerful kick was again well saved by goalie Baral in the 22nd minute of the match. Goalie was again an obstacle for TSC in the 25th minute of the match when Yogesh Gurung’s right flank was saved by him.SYC had a good chance in 29th minute of the match when Sajeev Budathoki’s free kick was superbly saved by goalie Kiran Chemjong. Goalie Ashok again saved Sahukhala’s header in the 33rd minute of the match. Finally in the 42nd minute TSC broke the dead lock of SYC defenders Santosh Sahukhala scored an easy goal who utilized a good pass of Dodoz. Raj Kumar Ghising’s corner kick was well saved by goalie Chemjong in the 45th minute of the match. In the second half too, Three Star played attacking football but could not score another goal due to brilliant performance of goalie Ashok Baral. With this narrow win defending champions have 10 points from six matches and SYC have 7 points from equal matches.

In the second match, Himalayan Sherpa Club (HSC) beat bottom- placed Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT) to win 3-2. In the competitive match HSC took twice as they did against defending champions in previous match but the only difference was Sherpa succeed to beat RCT. HSC took an early lead in the 6th minute of the match and it was Suraj Hamal who punished RCT’s defense line. RCT is in serious trouble this season and stood at the bottom- placed with a single point. Sherpa added another goal in the first half of the match when Heman Gurung’s super free kick from 25 yard distance kissed the net in the 17th minute of the match. RCT showed some comeback signal and cut the deficit in the 21st minute of the match and it was Suman Lama whose superb shot kissed the net to make score line 2-1. After Lama’s goal RCT played good football and his super left footed was well handled by HSC goalie Sagar Gurung in the 37th minute of the match. In the second half of the match RCT doubled the tally in the 53rd minute of the match and this time Bhim Darlami utilized a good pass from Shekhar Limbu and punished goalie Gurung for his poor goal keeping. Both teams played good football after the break. In the 80th minute of the match African recruit Segun Akinade scored for Sherpa to punish whole RCT team. With this result HSC have 8 points from six matches and RCT have single point from equal matches and RCT will continue to battle for relegation.
