2014-01-28
Sankata Club (SC) put agony to Boys Union Club (BUC) by beating 3 goals. Rajiv Gurung, Salyan Khadgi and Anjan Lakhaju scored for Sankata in 45+1 minute, 81st minute and 90+1 minute respectively. Sankata started the game in good note and Rajiv Gurung’s tight angle shot went above the pole in the 4th minute of the match. SC missed the good opportunity in the 7th minute when Barsat Gurung’s beautiful free kick hit the crossbar. Sankata played very aggressive football and created three chances in the gap of 5 minute and in the 9th minute Olawale failed to direct the ball so BUC goalie made easy saved. Olwale scored for Sankata in the 16th minute of the match but his goal caught offside. Sankata dominant Boys Union in the first half but formal failed to utilize the chances. But finally Sankata took a lead in the injury time of 45+1 minute when Rajeev Gurung’s close range shot kissed the net. In the second half also Sankata played aggressive football and dominant maximum time to Boys Union Club. Boys Union Club young star Ashim Jung Karki and African recruit Akeem Babatunde failed to give penetration so Sankata doubled their lead in the 81st minute when Salyan Khadgi scored utilizing the good pass from Olawale. In the 90+1 minute Anjan Lakhaju tripled the lead. With this win Sankata moved to the sixth position with 13 points from nine matches and Boys Union is in the bottom of the table with 4 points with 3 matches to play. Boys Union is the same team which we had observed in Ncell Cup 2013 and they are the giant killers as they beat Three Star, Nepal Army to reach final of the Ncell Cup but narrowly lost from Manang Marshyagdi Club by a solitary goal. We did not expect such performance from them and we think they have slim chances to avoid relegation because coming matches they are playing won’t be the easy for them and they should win all three matches and have to depend upon other teams.

In the second match Armed Police Force (APF) beat Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) by 3-1 goals. A single goal from veteran forward Ganesh Lawati and brace from Rajendra Rawal in the 7th minute, 17th and 37th minute respectively. Pradeep Mahrajan cut the deficit for JYC in the 74th minute of the match. APF played good attacking football from the beginning of the match and took a lead in the 7th minute of the match when Ganesh Lawati scored to punish JYC defense and goalie Bikesh Kuthu. APF doubled their lead in the 17th minute of the match when Sudeep Sirakhar’s cross was well headed by Rajendra Rawal to double the lead. After the early lead APF tried to play some defensive and JYC played attacking game and Pradeep Maharjan’s long shot was well punched by APF goalie Amrit Choudhary in the 24th minute of the match. Mahrajan’s superb free kick in the 32nd minute of the match was well saved by goalie Choudhary. APF tripled the lead in the 37th minute of the match when Rawal again scored his second goal to utilize Shayam Nepali’s cross. In the second half also APF played good football and tried to dominant JYC. JYC in the other hand tried their best to comeback in the game but failed to utilize the chances but Pradeep Mahrajan utilized the superb cross of Saurab Magar in the 74th minute of the match to cut the deficit but was not enough to level the score. With this win APF moved to the third position with 17 points with nine matches and they are third on the goal difference Three Star is in second position due to superior goal difference. JYC is in eleventh position with 10 points from nine matches and they can be in threat of relegation if bottom table win their coming matches.

  1. We just missed the traditional A Division Leauge there used to be tough and interesting matches and footballers were also motivated. We observed football as a professional game and professionalism was high. but now it's just the opposite..
