Manang Marshyangdi Club lifts Red Bull A Division League 2070 BS for 7th times

Six times League Champions Manang Marshyagdi Club (MMC) crown ‘’A Division League 2070 BS’’ beating Nepal Police Club (NPC) by 2-0 goals in the Super Six League at Dasarath Stadium today with one match in spare.  Yona Elias and Sujal Shrestha scored for league champions in the 53rd minute and 67th minute respectively. With this win, MMC became A Division League champions for seventh times and MMC now becomes the most successful A Division Team of Nepal.  MMC and NPC played a goalless draw in the first half but formal one played very attacking match to take a lead in the 53rd minute of the match.

League champions started the match in good note and they almost took a led in the 18 seconds of the first half, Anil Gurung of MMC failed to punish NPC defenders on that occasion, his header went little wide from the pole. Gurung again failed to connect with the ball properly inside the box in the 3rd minute. The first good attempt came from cops in the 4th minute, Bharat Shah of NPC failed to connect with the ball on that occasion. In the 14th minute, MMC forward Anil Gurung failed to beat NPC custodian Ritesh Thapa, Gurung’s header was well saved by Thapa. In the 17th minute Deepak Rai collected the good pass from Shiva Shrestha but Rai’s right flank cross was easily saved by custodian Thapa before Thapa denied Yona Elias. In the 22nd minute cops Ganesh Khadka tried his luck from outside the box, but his shot went little wide from the side pole. In the 34th minute Deepak Rai’s kick was well headed out from the box by cop’s defender Suman Subedi. MMC almost took a lead in the 45+2 minute but Deepak Rai failed to beat Ritesh Thapa in one vs one attempt. In the second half cops custodian Ritesh Thapa was again smart enough to save Shiva Shrestha’s ambitious shot in the 48th minute. MMC failed to crack the deadlock of the cops finally in the 53rd minute Yona Elias scored his 9th goal of the tournament through superb header to make 1-0 up. Cops nearly leveled the score in the 54th minute but Ganesh Khadka failed to punish MMC custodian Bishal Shrestha for his blunder. In the 65th minute cops squandered the chance to level the score, custodian Shrestha was smart enough to deny Bharat Shah’s shot. MMC doubled the lead   in the 67th minute when Sujal Shrestha’s superb free kick strike the net to make 2-0 up and that also ensured MMC’s win against cops. In the 77th minute MMC failed to triple the lead Anil Gurung’s right footed shot was beautifully saved by custodian Ritesh Thapa. In the remaining time both teams failed to break the deadlock and match ended in favor of MMC, which helps MMC lifts Red Bull Super League for the seventh times and they collected Rs 75 Lakhs. MMC tops the table with 35 points from sixteen matches; meanwhile NPC is unchanged in the fourth place with 26 points from equal matches.

  1. MMC was heavy weight team and they were loaded with lots of talents like Basanta Thapa, Rajan Rayamjahi, Kumar Thapa, Tashi Chiring, Deepak Lama, Basanta Gauchan.
