Three Star labored hard to beat APF

Defending champion Three Star Club (TSC) labored hard to beat departmental team Armed Police Force (APF), latter was beaten by 2-1 goals in the competitive match played on Wednesday in super six league match of  A Division League 2070. The first attack came from TSC in the very first minute but Prakash Budathoki failed to collect a good pass from Santosh Sahukhala. In the 2nd minute Yogesh Gurung tried his luck from 25 yard distance but APF custodian Amrit Choudhary was smart enough to deny him. The first attack of APF came in the 3rd minute, when Ranjan Bista tried to cross the ball in to the box but Three Star defender Smart cleared the ball from the box. Smart again headed the ball out from the box in the 4th minute when Top Bahadur Bista of APF took good free kick. APF dominated the field and Shyam Nepali’s shot went inch wide from the pole and his powerful shot was brilliantly saved by TSC custodian Kiran Chemjong in the 4th and 5th minute respectively. TSC almost took a lead in the counter move but APF custodian Amrit Choudhary saved the ball in the 6th minute.
APF squandered the opportunity in the 12th and 13th minute, in both occasions custodian Kiran Chemjong did his best to deny Top Bahadur Bista and Rajendra Rawal. Ranjan Bista failed to beat custodian Chemjong in one vs. one, Bista’s shot was well blocked by Chemjong in the 17th minute. Forward Santosh Shahukhala who squandered 2 golden opportunities in the 18th and 20th minute, scored his 7th goal of the tournament with a beautiful back heel goal for TSC in the 22nd minute to make TSC 1-0 up. Nirajan Khadka almost doubled the lead in the 25th minute but his smart kick was smartly saved by custodian Choudhary. Shyam Nepali tried his best to equalize to score in the 29th minute but his powerful shot was hardly saved by TSC custodian Kiran Chemjong. In the 42nd minute APF veteran forward Ganesh Lawati did his best to equalize the score but his powerful free kick went inch above the bar. In the second half, TSC tried to play attacking football and they squandered 2 golden opportunities in the 46th and 48th minute. In the 53rd minute veteran forward Ganesh Lawati scored for APF to make 1-1. After this goal, both teams tried to give immense pressure to each other but Santosh Shahukhala’s shot was saved by APF custodian Amrit Chaoudhary in the 57th minute and TSC custodian Kiran Chemjong did the same in the 66th minute to deny Ganesh Lawati’s long ranger. TSC played more attacking game in the remaining 10 minute but they missed forward Dodoz and their forwards were blunt. But in the 90+2 minute Nirajan Khadka scored for TSC to make 2-1 up and this goal gave TSC on the title race. With this win, TSC jumped to the second spot with 28 points from fifteen matches and APF on the other hand is unchanged to the sixth spot with 19 points from equal matches.
