Martyr's A Division League 2061 BS

Martyr’s A Division League 2061 was more competitive and interesting than that of Martyr’s A Division League 2060. There was the stiff competition between Three Star Club and Mahendra Police Club and final match between them had decided the title in which they played goalless draw. Police needed a complete win to lift the title but on the other side Three Star Club only needed a draw which they did it to lift the trophy after 2054 BS with a loss they won 12 matches and drawn 5 matches, meanwhile Mahendra Police Club won 11 matches, drawn 5 matches and loss 1 match.  In the first round Three Star Club and Mahendra Police Club played 2-2 draw. Mahendra Police Club was very unlucky to be runner up in this tournament since they were in the top of the table with the end of first round but their star players Hari Khadka, Ramesh Budathoki, Ananta Thapa all were injured and they failed to perform as they did in first round of the league.
Total Numbers of Matches: 174 matches
Basanta Thapa became the highest scorer with 19 goals and he also became the best forward of the tournament. League winner Three Star Club dominated the awards list with total 3 awards in defense, midfield and forward. Lok Bandu Gurung, Pradeep Maharjan and Surendra Tamang were among the Three Star players who received best defender, best midfielder and best forward respectively. Bikesh Malla of Jawalakhel Youth Club who conceded 27 goals in this league became the best goalkeeper and most of people were against this award since Ritesh Thapa of Mahendra Police Club conceded only 8 goals in 17 matches. The best award for goalkeeper was controversial.  Mahendra Police Club was the king of knockout tournament and they won almost all knockout tournaments under the supervision of Yogambar Suwal but they failed to win modern A Division League which they won in the 2011 BS and 2012 BS in the name of Police Force. Kathmandu Club was relegated to B Division League.
