Ramesh Budhathoki

Ramesh Budhathoki was the ace footballer of Nepal; he started his club level football with Sankata Club and then joined Friends Club and Three Star Club before joining Mahendra Police Club in 2055 BS (2000). Ramesh Budhathoki led the Three Star Club to the A Division League and so many knockout tournaments in 2054 BS; he was the key player in Three Star Club. After joining Mahendra Police Club (now popularly known as Nepal Police Club), he has been a star and key player for them. He also led cops to the A Division League in 2063 BS and being the team captain he was the winning goal scorer against Nepal Army Club. Budhathoki was the star, physical tough and most consistent forward in Nepali football and though he was selected for national squad but he did not get enough chances in international matches.

To receive the Yamaha Bike in Roopak Memorial Prize in 2063 BS (2006) 
In Asian Cup 2004 qualifying match against South Korea he created a rare and only one attack against Asian power house South Korea, when he dodged 2 Korean defenders but his shot was saved by custodian Young Su.
Low lights: Being the best footballer in national league and national football he was given less chance to play in international football.

Best Moments: When he was taken to Germany coach by Holger Overman to Germany when he was 16 years old.

  1. Ramesh Budhathoki was my coach when i was studying in Jagat Mandir School. He was a great football player and he was a amazing coach. I have a great respect for him and his contribution to Nepali football team.

  2. Ramesh was killer forward and his performance reminds me Ronaldo( Brazil) very good player but was not utilzed by nepali coach

  3. Budhathoki last played for the national team in the fifth SAFF Championship in Maldives, but he was excluded from the AFC Challenge Cup final round, which is his only complaint in his decade-long international football.

  4. Ramesh was a top class player and his skill, stamina was well appreciable but he rarely got chance to play in international tournament.
