Sahara FC beat Dharan FC to enter final

Sahara Football Club (SFC) beat hosts Dharan Football Club (DFC) in sudden death to set final clash against African United Club in the 16th Budha SUbba Gold Cup at Dharan on Thursday.
Sahara FC was the winners of the 12th Aaha Rara Gold Cup 2014 finalized their final date with African United Club as national defender Sandip Rai missed out the spot kick in sudden death of the 16th Budda Subba Gold Cup 2014. This is the first time that SFC has entered final in this tournament, the match was sent to the spot kick battle after the score line saw no change till regular of 90 minutes and extra added time of 15 minutes.
It was the host who took an early lead through Ashim Jung Karki in the 20th minute to beat SFC’s custodian Sagar Gurung. Suman Lama leveled the score for SFC utilizing a cross off Saroj Dahal in the 59th minute of the match.

Dharan FC started the match with good note as Prakash Budhathoki missed a chance to take in the 3rd minute Budhathoki’s superb strike was well denied by SFC’s custodian Sagar Gurung. Custodian Gurung was again smart enough to deny Sandip Rai’s clinical free kick a minute later. Sahara FC’s first attempt came in the 6th minute as Heman Gurung’s superb free kick went inch above the bar. DFC’s forward Santosh Sahukhala looked ambitious and his ambitious shot went inch wide in the 12th minute and Sahukhala was smart to give a good pass to Prakash Budhathoki and latter’s cross was superbly handled by Sabindra Shrestha but SFC’s custodian Sagar Gurung did his best to deny Shrestha’s kick in the 14th minute of the match. Dharan FC took a lead in the 20th minute to beat SFC’s custodian Sagar Gurung through young star Ashim Jung Karki to make 1-0 up against SFC. After conceding the goal SFC looked aggressive and they wanted to level the score but Heman Gurung’s quick pass to Pius was smarlty cleared by Sandip Rai in the 28th minute. Bijaya Gurung’s long range shot was superbly denied by DFC defender Smart in the 32nd minute. DFC missed the chance to double their tally in the 37th minute as Shekhar Limbu’s brilliant free kick was beautifully denied by SFC’s custodian Sagar Gurung. Heman Gurung’s superb corner kick was well punched by DFC’s custodian Kiran Chemjong in the 41st minute. Prakash Budathoki’s quick shot was well saved by SFC’s custodian Sagar Gurung before a half time. In the second half SFC looked dangerous and looked desperate for an equalizing and Heman Gurung did his best to level in the 53rd minute but Sandip Rai was smart enough to clear the ball. Rai again did his best to deny Anil Ojha’s free kick a minute later. In the 59th minute SFC leveled the score through Suman Lama who utilized a good pass of Saroj Dahal to make 1-1. In the remaining regular time both failed to utilize the chance and match went in to the extra time. In the extra time both were busy in midfield battle so match went in the spot kick battle. In the spot kick Sandip Rai’s last kick was well saved by SFC’s custodian to sent Sahara FC in the final of the tournament for the first time.
