Manang Marshagdi Club beat Svay Rieng Club

In the group C match, Nepali league champion Manang Marshagdi Club (MMC) beat Svay Rieng Club (SRC) of Cambodia by 6-3 goals to register an important victory in AFC President Cup 2014 played on Thursday at Cambodia. SRC started the match in good note but free kick taken by Cambodian players did not utilize well in the 2nd minute of the match. MMC looked aggressive in the 3rd minute and Biraj Maharjan’s superb free kick went inch above the wall. MMC took an early lead in the 6th minute when Deepak Rai scored for MMC to utilize a superb pass from Anil Gurung to make 1-0 up. MMC was gifted with an own goal from Cambodians in the 8th minute when Moul Daravron scored an own goal to make MMC 2-0 up. In the 13th minute Sulav Maskey gave a pass to Anil Gurung and Gurung again gave to Maskey but Cambodian custodian was smart enough to deny Maskey.  SRC wasted a good chance in the 14th minute when MMC’s custodian Bishal Shrestha did his best to deny Cambodian in one VS one situation. MMC triple their lead in the 24th minute when Biraj Maharjan’s superb free kick was well touched by Shaeed Aziz to make MMC 3-0 up. SRC cut the deficit in the 36th when MMC’s captain Sagar Thapa handled the ball and free kick was awarded to SRC and Soum Veasna’s brilliant free kick kissed the net to make 1-3. SRC almost scored another goal in the 38th minute but MMC’s custodian Bishal Shresha did his best to deny Prak Money.

In the second half SRC looked recharged and NA Bata’s brilliant attempt in the 47th minute was well saved by MMC’s custodian Bishal Shrestha. Bata again did his best to penetrate MMC’s defender in the 48th minute but custodian Shrestha again did his best to deny him. SRC scored their second goal in the 58th minute through Nub Tola to punish MMC’s sloppy defense to make 2-3 down. Cambodian played very good football in the second half and MMC looked under pressure after that goal. Deepak Rai scored a fantastic long ranger goal in the 63rd minute to make MMC 4-2 up. Rupesh KC of MMC came closer to add another goal but his shot went inch above the bar in the 64th minute. MMC’s custodian Bishal Shrestha looked under pressure in the second half and he did some fantastic save to make hope alive for MMC. Sulav Maskey scored another goal for MMC to make 5-2 up in the 76th minute and Nirajan Malla added final goal for MMC in the 83rd minute to make 6-2 up. SRC cut the deficit through Nub Tola in the 85th minute to make 3-6 and in the remaining time both failed to add goal and match ended in favor of MMC by 6-3 goals to get valuable 3 points and it was the fantastic result for newly appointed coach Nabin Neupane as he tasted a sweet victory in his debut match.
