Di Maria could be Argentine star in World Cup 2014

On the night that Real Madrid lifted the Champions Leaguetrophy for a record tenth time, they had to breach a stubborn defense as Diego Simeone set up his side just right. Atletico Madrid were as compact as a football team could be without bumping into each other.
They neutralized the exceptional counter-attacking threat of their cross-town rivals and frustrated them, even grabbing a slightly scrappy goal in the process to take the lead. However, Madrid were governed by a force that coaxed them forward, driving them towards the Ateltico goal time and again until they wore them down. That force was unmistakably the relentless Angel Di Maria.

On a night where Xabi Alonso was unavailable to conduct proceedings and was dearly missed by Luka Modric in particular, where for the first 90 minutes, Cristiano Ronaldo went missing for the most part while Gareth Bale couldn’t stop missing the target, Di Maria stepped up to the plate.

Di Maria was Madrid's driving force in the Champions League final

Brazilian Ronaldo says, Neymar is great hope for Brazil

The 1994 and 2002 World Cup winner has taken the time to praise the former Santos man and has admitted the organisation has disappointed the people of Brazil.

Former Brazil international Ronaldo - the World Cup's all-time leading goalscorer and two-time winner - has big hopes for the national team at this summer's tournament and feels Barcelona forward Neymar can make the difference for the hosts.
The 37-year-old believes Brazil, who face Croatia, Mexico and Cameroon in Group A, come in with more confidence than the victorious 2002 team he was a part of and thinks home advantage will be a huge advantage.

"Brazil are entering the World Cup with much more confidence than we had when we entered the World Cup in 2002," Ronaldo told reporters.

"I believe that the squad we have for 2014 is really strong. We have a balanced team, full of a lot of talent.

"Neymar is a fantastic kid, so talented, he is our great hope for the future.

Luis Suarez is doubtful for World Cup 2014

The Liverpool and Uruguay forward Luis Suarez is set to undergo surgery on his knee as he felt some discomfort in his knee during a training session on Wednesday and is a major doubt for the World Cup.
The Liverpool star, who was voted PFA Player of the Year by his peers after scoring 31 goals in Brendan Rodgers' title-chasing side, felt some discomfort during a training session with his international team-mates on Tuesday.

Subsequent tests have shown an issue in his meniscus in his knee, and the 27-year-old will be operated on this week, with the South American side desperately hoping that he will recover in time for this summer's tournament.

Uruguay have been placed in Group D in Brazil, along with England, Italy and Costa Rica and the news will come as a boost to Roy Hodgson's men, who are scheduled to face Oscar Tabarez's side on June 14.

However, Tabarez can also call on Edinson Cavani and Diego Forlan, with the two forwards likely to spearhead the side's attack if Suarez does indeed miss out.
The Liverpool striker was injured on Wednesday and could face surgery, but the South Americans are hopeful the 27-year-old will return in time for their clash with Costa Rica.
